Zero Wait-State Announces New Product Study for Mechatronics for PLM

AUSTIN, TX – August 17, 2010 – Zero Wait-State, a product lifecycle management (PLM) solution provider and Oracle partner announces a product study to extend their DesignState integration suite to address mechatronics. Mechantronics, by definition is the combination of electrical, software and mechanical systems. According to an Aberdeen Study, titled "Engineering Evolved Getting Mechatronics Performance Right the First Time" over two thirds of their study participants had mechanical, electrical and embedded control systems in their products. This creates unique issues for PLM solutions as they try to reconcile information from mechanical computer aided design tools like Dassault's SolidWorks and Catia, PTC's Pro/Engineer and Siemen's , UG NX with electrical data from systems like Cadence, and Mentor Graphics. Further complicating the issue are self-contained software development lifecycle mangement tools like ClearCase, CVS, SVN, Visual Source Safe and Cruise Control. PLM vendors like Oracle, PTC, and Siemens are grappling with ways to provide their clients with solutions to effectively organize and control information derived from these systems.

Zero Wait-State is leveraging a social product development approach touted by PTC and others as a way to identify the right feature set to resolve this complex issue. Working with current customers and Oracle resources Zero Wait-State is conducting a thorough product study to ensure a solution will address the issue in the most effective way. Initially this product will be deployed to work with Oracle's Agile PLM but the DesignState architecture has links to PTC's PDMlink and Siemen's Teamcenter. Zero Wait-State has created a presentation and form on their website for companies interested in providing input.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to address such a critical issue for the industry. Our extensive experience with both software and mechanical development makes us uniquely qualified to deliver a solution." states Stephen Porter, Zero Wait-State CEO. Zero Wait-State recently introduced an integration from Solidworks Enterprise PDM to Agile PLM. DesignState for Mechatronics would link software development environments like ClearCase CVS, SVN, Visual Source Safe and Cruise Control to enterprise PLM solutions allowing companies to effectively manage output from software development environments alongside mechanical and electrical information.
