The Top 3 Configurations of Enterprise PDM from 100 different clients installed in FY2010.
The following are the top 3 (most popular) configurations of EPDM that were installed at over 100 different customers in 2010 from many different vertical markets, all on the West Coast of the USA.
#1 - Because most SolidWorks clients do not have a robust PDM system in place, in fact SolidWorks corporate states that 70% of all SolidWorks clients worldwide, don’t even have a PDM system in place, the simple configuration below was the most popular.
#2 – Surprisingly, coming in at #2, was the implementation of Enterprise PDM with the plan of connecting Enterprise to an existing PLM solution already in place. The most common PLM in this space was AGILE PLM.
#3 – The third most common was taking out of the box Enterprise PDM, then using some skilled service providers, with some add on 3rd party tools, and building Enterprise PDM into a PLM-ish application. For example, Project and Program management can be added with a PLM 360 tool, called Enterprise Gateway, that drills right into the EPDM database from the project management view with a mouse click. Document management can be greatly enhanced with the addition of the Office2PDM tool.
