HELP: I Have the Latest JDK (1.6) but My Agile PLM Java Client Fails

The first time a user attempts to load the Java client for Agile PLM they may encounter an “Unable to launch the application” error. Depending on your Java settings, this blog may be for you.

Here is how to investigate and fix the exception:

  1. Close out of the Java “More Information” and “Application Error” dialogs (shown above)
  2. Open the Java Control Panel by clicking Start | Control Panel | Java
    • If you do not see it, change the view from something other than category view
    • If you are on a 64 bit machine running 32 bit Java, your Java Control Panel will be in Start | Control Panel | View x86 Control Panel Icons | Java
  3. In the Java Control Panel click the “Advanced” tab Expand Security | Mixed code
  4. Error Dialog

  5. Select the “Disable verification”
  6. Click Apply and close the Java Control Panel
  7. Try to open the Java Client again!
