Microsoft's SharePoint combined with PTC's ProductPoint is a great entry level solution for Product Lifecycle management. The price point and implementation cost are ideal for small companies looking to impact productivity and improve efficiencies in product development. While this approach is not as robust as Agile or PDMlink it does offer extensions for SharePoint that support workflow and project management. This capability to centralize data, control access, and routing of information is a huge win for most small companies. It also is an excellent platform for collaboration, particularly when you combine it with ProductPoint from PTC which incorporates PTC's powerful visualization tools with CAD data management capabilities.
